The Macallan Classic Cut 2020 Release

Macallan Classic Cut 2020 Release It may be hard to imagine today, but for much of the 20th century, Macallan was primarily a constituent malt in blends. It was not until the 1980s downturn in the market that the distillery decided to focus on its single malt brand. Fortuitously, this coincided with the crest of a wave of enthusiasm for the high quality releases that the distillery had licensed to Campbell, Hope & King and Gordon & MacPhail in the 1960s and 1970s. These remain some of the most collectible on the market. While global single malt sales volume is still lead by Speyside neighbours, Glenfiddich and Glenlivet, Macallan is easily the most sought after. So much so in fact, that they had to open a brand new distillery in 2018, a subterranean architectural masterpiece within the Easter Elchies estate, boasting 36 copper pot stills. This is the fourth release of the Classic Cut series, first introduced in 2017. The expression takes its name from the third of Macallan's six pillars, known as the "finest cut," in reference to their selection of only the most superior quality spirit from their stills.

The Macallan Concept Nº 2

$530.00
The second release in Macallan's limited-edition Concept series, this Highland single malt brings together music and whisky - two of the passions of Macallan Whisky Maker Steven Bremner. Matured in a combination of sherry-seasoned American oak casks, ex-bourbon casks and Miguel Martin sherry casks, creating a complex character with aromas of toffee apples, vanilla, oak spice, blackberry and pistachio on the nose. The palate offers notes of dried apple, almond, cinnamon, toasted oak and sweet toffee.

THE MACALLAN M BLACK

A MOST COMPLEX RELEASE

There remain at The Macallan Estate rare, black-ended casks holding peated Macallan. The smoke-infused spirit matured in these sherry seasoned oak casks has gathered distinction and depth over decades. Flavour notes of warming wood spices open to dark chocolate and ginger, with a rare, lingering, and characterful peat trace. An affectionate history of a whisky, it expressively chronicles bygone crafts of the generations that made it. Those lucky to meet it will never forget their rendezvous.
Subtly smoky and brooding it may be, but the whisky possesses the spark and breeding of a true Macallan. In its honour, its new home is hand crafted from black Lalique crystal.

A CELEBRATION OF MASTERY

One of the most challenging materials in the glass blower's repertoire, requiring more time and resource to produce than clear crystal. These individually numbered, slim and elegant decanters are flawless. Their six facets are the inspirational acknowledgement of The Macallan's defining six pillars. Designed by the Gallic creative visionary, Fabien Baron, the decanter was one of the most challenging that Lalique, true masters of the art, had encountered. Contemporary yet classical, their iconic realisation is a reverential triumph.

The Macallan No.6 Decanter

Another collaboration between Macallan single malt Scotch and Lalique French crystal to create another stunning luxury whisky. Aged in first-fill ex-Sherry Spanish oak casks from a single Jerez cooperage presented in a six-sided crystal decanter to celebrate Macallan's six pillars. This rich, intense whisky from The Macallan takes its name after the distillery’s six pillars and is part of The Macallan Master Decanter Series. Macallan No.6 is comprised of whiskies aged in first-fill sherry casks. Presented in a six-faceted Lalique decanter, this is rich and sumptuous, with notes of fruit cake and orange. Intense, fruity aroma, with notes of raisins, figs and dates. The palate is filled with rich oak, as well as early notes such as leather and tobacco. The finish is at once subtle and astounding, with a dry, nutty character accented by toffee and cream.
